Valkyries win first WNBA title in historic Game 7
The Golden State Valkyries won their first WNBA championship, defeating the Atlanta Dream 68-63 in Game 7 in just their second season. Gabby Williams scored 30 points, including a Finals-record 28 in the second half, and added four blocks and two steals; her late three-pointer broke a tie, and she was named Finals MVP. Golden State rallied from a six-point halftime deficit, with its defense limiting Atlanta to 33% shooting and containing Angel Reese late in the series. The game was the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history, and the Valkyries became the first expansion team to win a WNBA title, giving the Bay Area its first.
