Alvarez Reclaims WBC Title, Beats Mbilli Unanimously
Canelo Álvarez reclaimed the WBC super-middleweight title in Riyadh with a unanimous-decision victory over Christian Mbilli, winning on scorecards of 115–112, 116–111 and 117–110. After a competitive opening half against Mbilli’s pressure, Álvarez took control with precise counters and combinations and finished strongly, improving his record to 64-3-2. Mbilli, who lost a point in the eighth round for an illegal punch to the back of Álvarez’s head, suffered the first defeat of his professional career. The win returned Álvarez to championship status after he lost his undisputed crown to Terence Crawford in September 2025. The event proceeded amid security concerns in Saudi Arabia following missile incidents and the cancellation of other sporting events.
