Five-Star Young Joins LSU's Top-Ranked 2027 Class

Five-star center Xavier Young has committed to LSU and will reclassify from the 2028 class to 2027, joining coach Will Wade’s highly ranked recruiting group. The 6-foot-9/10 prospect, ranked among the top 15 nationally, chose the Tigers over Maryland, Michigan, TCU and Tennessee after receiving about 40 scholarship offers. Young, who turned 16 in March, said LSU’s coaching staff and its plan to develop his game helped drive his decision; he expects to spend at least two years in college before pursuing professional basketball. His commitment follows Reese Alston’s and adds to a 2027 class that also includes top prospects King Gibson and Ahmad Hudson, as LSU seeks to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022.
