Gotham FC Wins First NWSL Shield

Gotham FC beat the Utah Royals 2-0 on Decision Day to win the first NWSL Shield in club history, secure the No. 1 seed and earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Gotham finished with a club-record 61 points, qualified for the playoffs for a fourth straight season and added the Shield to its NWSL championship titles from 2023 and 2025. Utah finished seventh and reached the postseason for the first time; the quarterfinals begin Nov. 6, with San Diego hosting Utah, Kansas City facing Angel City on Nov. 7, and Gotham meeting Seattle and Washington playing Portland on Nov. 8. Seattle claimed the final playoff berth with a 1-0 win over Orlando, while North Carolina’s Ashley Sanchez won the Golden Boot with 20 goals despite the Courage missing the playoffs.
