LIV Golf to Wind Down After Abandoning Relaunch
LIV Golf is abandoning plans to relaunch as “LIV 2.0” and will wind down operations, with liquidation proceedings set to begin in its Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. The decision followed Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund ending its backing and BC Partners withdrawing a proposed investment of up to $300 million, saying it could not secure enough financial and player support to make the tour viable. LIV had spent more than $5 billion since launching in 2022. Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton said they would not return to LIV; Rahm is open to returning to the PGA Tour on terms similar to Brooks Koepka’s, though he has not discussed a return with tour officials. The closure leaves the futures of LIV’s remaining players uncertain.
