Carr Named Michigan Starter After Win at Rutgers

Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham named freshman Tommy Carr the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future after Carr led the Wolverines to a 28-21 win at Rutgers. In his second career start, Carr completed about 81% of his passes for 266 yards and a touchdown and ran for 54 yards and two scores, including the late go-ahead touchdown. Michigan gained 427 yards and converted 12 of 16 third downs, though the team continued to show weaknesses in its running game, defense and kicking game. Now 5-3, Michigan next faces Michigan State on Saturday.
