Predators acquire Shane Wright for Wood

On November 1, 2026, Kraken general manager Jason Botterill announced by press release a one-for-one trade sending center Shane Wright to Nashville for winger Matthew Wood. Botterill said Wood is a young forward who adds size and an elite shot, with high hockey sense who showed offensive potential as an NHL rookie last season, and that Seattle was thrilled to welcome him. He thanked Wright for his contributions to the organization and the city of Seattle and wished him all the best in Nashville. Wright, the 2022 fourth overall pick, had been linked to trade rumors involving Montreal and Ottawa before the move. He has 39 goals and 82 points in 183 career games. Wood, the 2023 15th overall pick, has 18 goals and 34 points in 91 career games and is listed at 6-foot-4, 202 pounds. Left-rated outlets foregrounded trade grades, a finally-traded framing for Wright, and source confirmation. No right-rated coverage is in the record. No dispute was found on the trade terms, draft positions, or scoring totals. How each player’s role changes with the new club is unresolved.
