Brewers Extend $23.15 Million Qualifying Offer to Bauers

Eight MLB players received one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offers as free agency opened ahead of a potential lockout, including Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers. Bauers earned the offer after hitting 26 home runs and winning NLCS MVP during Milwaukee’s World Series run. He has until Nov. 17 to accept the guaranteed salary or test the market for a multiyear deal; declining and signing elsewhere could bring Milwaukee draft-pick compensation. The Brewers also declined mutual options for Gary Sánchez and Antonio Senzatela, while Dustin May declined his option and several other players became free agents.
