Messi winner lifts Miami to second
Inter Miami rallied from an early second-half deficit to beat the New England Revolution 2-1, with Lionel Messi setting up Germán Berterame’s equalizer before scoring the winner in the 83rd minute. The result moved Miami one point ahead of New England into second place in the Eastern Conference with one regular-season match remaining; a win over Charlotte would secure home-field advantage through the conference finals. The victory also clinched Miami a place in next year’s CONCACAF Champions Cup, while New England needs a win over Orlando and a Miami slip to reclaim second. Revolution coach Marko Mitrovic said the match offered a useful test against one of the league’s top teams, despite his side letting an early lead slip.
