Dodge to End 14-Year NASCAR Absence With 2027 Cup Series Return
Dodge will return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027 with Kaulig Racing, ending a 14-year absence. Kaulig plans two full-time Dodge Charger entries, expected for A.J. Allmendinger and Ty Dillon, plus a possible third car in select races. Four manufacturers will compete: Dodge, Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota. The comeback arrives a year earlier than first anticipated and is set to begin at the Daytona 500, after Ram rejoined the Craftsman Truck Series with Kaulig in 2026. Tim Kuniskis announced the move at the SEMA Show, saying others called a one-year return impossible and that Dodge would plan, test and perfect in real time on the track. Steve O'Donnell of NASCAR called it a significant milestone and praised the Stellantis partnership. John Probst said the long-discussed possibility finally happening was a proud moment. Dodge last won the Cup title in 2012 with Brad Keselowski in the No. 2 Team Penske Charger, recorded 57 wins from 2001-2012, and has 217 Cup victories. It is the first new Cup manufacturer since Toyota in 2007.
