The Athletics hired 36-year-old Cam Castro, formerly the Milwaukee Brewers’ senior vice president of player development and performance, as general manager. Castro will report to president of baseball operations Taylor Smith and is expected to help shape the roster and development systems, including addressing the team’s pitching needs after a 64-98 season. He spent eight seasons with the World Series champion Brewers, rising from a minor-league pitching coach to a senior executive. The appointment adds to the Athletics’ front-office leadership as the team prepares for its final season in West Sacramento before its planned move to Las Vegas in 2028.
