BC Partners reportedly drops $300M LIV relaunch bid

BC Partners is reportedly abandoning its plan to provide up to $300 million to finance LIV Golf’s proposed 2027 relaunch after the league failed to secure enough player commitments. The financing was conditional on sufficient participation; about 15 players had reportedly expressed interest, below the 30 to 40 BC Partners was said to require, while several prominent golfers have said they will not join. LIV filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September and may now pursue liquidation, although public court filings had not formally shown its restructuring agreement as terminated. The setback follows Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund ending its financial support after investing more than $5 billion, and comes ahead of a scheduled bankruptcy-court hearing.
