Canada and US to wear generic jerseys at women's world hockey championship

Canada and the United States are set to wear generic jerseys supplied by TRUE Hockey at the women’s World Championship in Denmark, rather than their usual national team uniforms. Hockey Canada said its players had not yet seen Canada’s jerseys ahead of the tournament, which opens Friday. The change is part of a dispute over commercial rights: the IIHF has named TRUE its exclusive apparel supplier, while Hockey Canada and USA Hockey have existing deals with Bauer and CCM and argue that member federations control their uniform rights. The IIHF maintains authority to approve jerseys, and legal efforts by Canada and the United States to block its supplier requirements did not prevent the change.
