Five Coaches, Including Belichick, Advance in Hall Voting
Bill Belichick has advanced to the next stage of consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2027 class, a year after falling short in his first bid for enshrinement. He is among five coaching nominees, alongside Tom Coughlin, Mike Holmgren, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan; the group was narrowed from 14 candidates. The Hall’s coach subcommittee is scheduled to meet Nov. 17 and select one candidate to send to the full selection committee. Belichick won six Super Bowls as Patriots head coach and two as Giants defensive coordinator, while Coughlin won two as Giants head coach. Belichick’s 2026 omission drew widespread criticism, prompting the Hall to revise its selection process.
