Oregon State Faces Explosive Texas State Offense

Oregon State will host Texas State after suffering its first conference loss, facing a Bobcats offense led by quarterback Brad Jackson, who has thrown for 1,933 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 436 yards; Texas State leads the nation in plays of at least 40 yards. Oregon State’s coaches say disciplined coverage and tackling will be essential to contain those explosive plays, an area where the Beavers have struggled. On offense, Texas State may use physical man coverage and pressure to limit freshman receiver Jesse Legree, who leads the nation with 1,110 yards and 14 touchdowns; Fresno State recently held him to 70 yards with that approach, and edge rusher Tymere Jackson could be a factor. Oregon State may also rely on running back Hatcher, freshman receiver Adonis McDaniel and tight end Temple, who had six catches for 97 yards against Fresno State. Oregon State defensive tackle Tevita Pome’e and receiver Eddie Freauff are questionable, while Texas State defensive back Jayden Lawton is out.
