Peoria Javelinas Players McCoy and Kemp Slated for Fall Stars Game

The Peoria Javelinas finished the Arizona Fall League’s final full week at 16-10, leading the standings by half a game and earning a first-round playoff bye; the six-team postseason ends with the Nov. 14 championship. The league’s Home Run Derby features eight prospects in a single-elimination bracket, including three Javelinas, while Peoria outfielder Alex McCoy and pitcher Kannon Kemp are slated for the Fall Stars Game. A report on attending an AFL game in Peoria highlights affordable tickets and a relaxed atmosphere, while noting the stadium is aging. The Cardinals acquired left-handed pitcher Rivera from Boston for Juan Garcia after Rivera was designated for assignment, and Rivera is expected to compete for a bullpen spot in 2027. Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll had surgery to remove loose bodies from his right elbow; he is expected to recover in about eight weeks and is targeting a return for spring training.
