Bears Weigh Illinois Stadium Options Alongside Indiana Plans
The Chicago Bears have reopened discussions with Illinois lawmakers about legislation that could support a new stadium in Arlington Heights or Chicago, while continuing work on plans for a stadium in Hammond, Indiana. The team says it will weigh proposals from both states in the coming weeks. Illinois discussions reportedly center on a stadium authority that could own the facility and provide property-tax relief, with public funding limited to surrounding infrastructure. Separately, developer Related Midwest has pitched the former U.S. Steel South Works site for a covered stadium and entertainment district, citing its size, transit links and nearby development; the Bears have not endorsed the proposal.
