North Carolina Central Stuns Norfolk State, 29-28
Norfolk State lost to North Carolina Central 29-28 after a late turnover erased its 28-23 lead, extending its winless start in MEAC play. With about 1:36 remaining and the Eagles nearly out of timeouts, coach Michael Vick said he called for victory formation, but quarterback Deljay Bailey ran the ball and fumbled. North Carolina Central recovered and scored the winning touchdown on a 26-yard pass with 27 seconds left. Norfolk State had one final chance, but Marco Peery missed a 37-yard field goal as time expired. Vick said he did not know why the team ran a play instead of kneeling and called the mistake a lesson in situational football.
