Springfield Approves Annexation for Behavioral Health Campus
Springfield City Council unanimously approved annexing an 18-acre site in north Springfield, clearing a major step for PeaceHealth and Lane County to build a behavioral health campus with a psychiatric hospital and crisis stabilization center. The hospital is intended to expand inpatient care for adults and adolescents, while the joint project aims to improve access to crisis services across Lane County and the region. Councilors found that traffic concerns had been addressed and added a requirement for the partners to coordinate with Springfield police on serious safety incidents. The project may proceed to development permitting if opponents do not appeal the annexation decision.
