St. Louis Claims First Cup, Bürki Hospitalized
St. Louis City goalkeeper Roman Bürki was taken to a hospital after suffering a head injury in a collision while making a save during Wednesday’s scoreless U.S. Open Cup final against the Columbus Crew. He was stretchered off, but the club said the following day that he was alert and in good spirits, with medical staff continuing to monitor him. Backup Ben Lundt replaced Bürki and made a key save in the penalty shootout as St. Louis won its first trophy in club history.
