Liberty outscores Lynx 23-12 late to win 93-81
The New York Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx 93-81 on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, in Minneapolis. Breanna Stewart scored 24 points with 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, passing Sue Bird for ninth on the WNBA career scoring list at 6,806 points, five behind Cappie Pondexter. Jonquel Jones added 18 points and 10 rebounds; Sabrina Ionescu had 17 points, 6 assists and 3 steals; Pauline Astier scored 14 and Marine Johannes 13. Olivia Miles led Minnesota with 20; Kayla McBride had 16, Napheesa Collier 14, Courtney Williams 12 and Natasha Williams 11. Miles' three-point play made it 69-67 Lynx with 8:18 left. Stewart hit a 3 on the next possession and New York never trailed again, closing on a 23-12 run. Stewart said after the game the Liberty rotated Leo, Bek and Pauline to pick Miles up full court: guards do not want that pressure, and while Miles still got to the rim and free-throw line she was less efficient than she wanted. Minnesota remained the league's top seed at 31-10 despite a third straight loss; New York rose to 25-16 and sixth place.
