Students Rally Across Campuses Against Sexual Violence
Allegations in a lawsuit over a 2024 sexual assault at Cornell have prompted campus demonstrations and other displays of support for survivors. At Yale and UC Berkeley, students joined Take Back the Night rallies, carrying signs in solidarity with the plaintiff, who is identified as Jane Doe in court filings; smaller demonstrations were also reported in Clarksville, Tennessee. At Stanford, students led the annual rally themselves and criticized the university’s handling of sexual-assault cases and reductions to prevention programs. In Washington, D.C., the National Women’s Law Center projected survivor-support slogans and petition signers’ names onto a residence hall used by Cornell’s DC Start program. Across the events, participants called for stronger institutional support and accountability for survivors.
