Students worldwide pursue space science initiatives

Students around the world are taking part in space-focused educational programs that build science, engineering and teamwork skills. Three students from Ballakermeen High School returned from a Houston space school, where they planned a Mars mission with support from NASA astronauts, engineers and scientists. In North Carolina, an Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College team developed an experiment on how lubricating oils behave in microgravity, scheduled to travel to the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX rocket. Youth programs in Zanzibar and Australia are encouraging students to design models and technologies for space exploration, while Wycombe High School students joined a UK competition to design a crewed settlement in the solar system.
