Supermicro begins shipping liquid-cooled NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks
Super Micro Computer announced on September 23, 2026 that it has begun shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks integrated with its Data Center Building Block Solutions and DLC-2 direct-liquid-cooling systems. Each rack combines 72 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and 36 NVIDIA Vera CPUs in eighteen 1U compute trays linked by nine sixth-generation NVLink switch trays for 216 TB/s of scale-up bandwidth, delivering 20.7 TB of HBM4 memory and up to 54 TB of LPDDR5X memory. A Scalable Unit Blueprint covers 16 compute racks with 1,152 Rubin GPUs and 331 TB of HBM4; cooling includes 1.8 MW in-row CDUs with N+1 redundancy and optional rear door heat exchangers. Supermicro states its DLC-2 stack achieves 98+% heat capture and sizes the unit at 227 kW per rack with 1 MW cooling towers. President and CEO Charles Liang said the firm spent years building the liquid-cooling stack, manufacturing capacity, and deployment teams for this moment, and that customers can now order a Scalable Unit and receive production-ready systems with end-to-end integration because the company designs and builds every layer between the cold plate and the cooling tower. NVIDIA’s May 31, 2026 GTC Taipei announcement named Supermicro among system builders in full-scale production, with shipments set to begin in the fall. Contested: none found. The announcement names no customers and gives no order figures or revenue impact.
