Suspicious Mail Prompts Congressional Office Evacuations
The Orlando office of Rep. Maxwell Frost was evacuated Friday after it received a suspicious package, and hazmat crews and law enforcement investigated. Frost said he and his staff were safe and that the package appeared similar to suspicious mail reported at other lawmakers’ offices nationwide. Rep. Darren Soto said law enforcement intercepted an envelope containing a suspicious substance sent to his Kissimmee office after Frost alerted his staff to watch for mail; no one was hurt. Both offices are cooperating with authorities, and officials have not released further details about the packages.
