Syracuse Coach Brown Flagged During 27-13 Pitt Loss
Syracuse coach Fran Brown was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Orange’s 27-13 road loss to Pittsburgh after angrily confronting a referee over a pass-interference call and accusing officials of cheating. Brown also made a motion toward the official that appeared intended to make him flinch, drawing criticism from the ESPN broadcast and fans. After the game, Brown apologized, saying he lost his composure and should not have used profanity or questioned the officials’ integrity. The incident added to concerns about Brown’s temper as Syracuse opened the season 1-2 and 0-2 in ACC play, following a 3-9 campaign last year, and he could face additional disciplinary action.
