Airbnb Activates Halloween Party Screening Across U.S.
Airbnb is activating its AI-based anti-party screening system across the U.S. for Halloween weekend for the sixth consecutive year. The system uses booking details, including stay length, timing and a guest’s proximity to the property, to flag higher-risk reservations and may block entire-home bookings or redirect guests to private rooms or hotels. Airbnb says the measures deterred more than 23,500 people nationwide from booking entire homes over Halloween weekend last year, including hundreds in Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Las Vegas, and that party reports remain a small share of reservations. Violations can result in warnings, cancellations, account or listing suspensions, or removal, and Airbnb provides support channels for hosts, guests, neighbors and law enforcement. Indianapolis police are urging residents to report suspicious activity around short-term rentals and reminding families to take precautions while trick-or-treating.
