Tennessee Man Extradited After Delaware Sailboat Arrest

A Tennessee man was extradited to Maryland after Delaware authorities found an outstanding warrant while investigating his sailboat, Piper, which washed ashore near Cape Henlopen. Michael S. Summar, 46, is accused of intentionally setting a dumpster fire at a Salisbury business on May 5, 2021, causing about $5,000 in damage. A warrant issued in June 2021 charges him with first-degree malicious burning, burning a trash container, and malicious destruction of property over $1,000. Summar is being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center; the allegations have not been proven in court.
