Tesla Registrations Surge Across Northern Europe
Tesla registrations rose year over year in October 2026 across three Northern European markets: 248% in Sweden, 131% in Norway and 34% in Denmark, according to Mobility Sweden, Norway's OFV and bilstatistik.dk. The figures were published around Nov. 2, 2026. In Norway, Tesla was the top-selling car brand that month with a 9.8% market share, while Chinese brands reached a record 22.5% of new passenger-car registrations. In Denmark, Tesla's market share was 0.73%, trailing BYD, Leapmotor, Xpeng and MG, each between 1.6% and 5.5%. Wire coverage linked the gains in part to easier year-ago comparisons, higher fuel prices, government incentives and EV demand growth. Rico Luman of ING Research said Norwegians are generally more affluent and less drawn to lower Chinese offerings than buyers elsewhere in Europe. Felipe Munoz of Car Industry Analysis said Northern Europe is open to efficient new EV players, which helped Tesla lead and is helping Chinese brands gain ground. Tesla disclosed in October that it ended Q3 2026 with its largest passenger-vehicle order backlog in four years. UK and Germany registration data were still expected later that week.
