Theaters Report Leadership Shifts, Funding Drives, Upgrades

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra is facing another leadership transition: interim executive director Tim King has returned while the board searches for a permanent leader, and music director Carolyn Watson will leave when her contract ends after this season. Theatre Harrisburg is opening a new adaptation of H.G. Wells’ “War of the Worlds,” drawing on the suspense of Orson Welles’ famous 1938 radio broadcast. Sydney’s Glen Street Theatre will close from January through April 2027 to replace auditorium seating and house lighting, with the work intended to improve accessibility, capacity and the audience experience. The Dixon Historic Theatre has scheduled a holiday tribute to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra alongside November musical performances, while separately eliminating its executive director role and seeking donations for operating costs and essential building repairs.
