Three Buffalo Breweries Close Amid Industry Strain

Buffalo’s Chandler Street Breweries has shut down immediately, ending operations for Community Beer Works, Thin Man Brewery and Smoldered Society Beer Company and closing their shared taproom. The three brands had combined production and moved into a shared home nine months ago in an effort to improve the business, which had operated at significant losses for years. The company attributed the closure to declining craft-beer demand, rising costs, changing consumer habits and more difficult distribution, saying the business could not become financially sustainable despite its efforts.
