Three Lions Defenders Remain Limited Before Opener
The Detroit Lions’ first full practice ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the New Orleans Saints produced no new setbacks. Defensive back Christian Izien, rookie edge rusher Derrick Moore and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo remained limited, while five other players—including Thomas Harper, Keith Abney II, Trevor Nowaske, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and Jimmy Rolder—were full participants. Izien’s groin and Moore’s hamstring are the main availability concerns, though consecutive limited practices offer some encouragement. Tight end Sam LaPorta was absent from the initial injury report, suggesting he is on track to play after sustaining a hip injury in training camp. Detroit’s final practice report and game-status designations will provide the clearest indication of who will be available Sunday, as the team prepares with its full active roster accounted for earlier in the week.
