Timmonsville Man Arrested After Allegedly Firing at Officer
A Timmonsville police officer was unharmed after Marcus Bolton allegedly fired multiple shots at the officer while fleeing other shootings. Authorities said Bolton later surrendered after a brief standoff with a Florence County SWAT team and was charged with attempted murder and several firearm-related offenses. The incident has prompted Police Chief Preston Ford to seek funding to hire two officers, arguing that single-officer shifts are unsafe amid rising violent crime. Ford is exploring grants and federal partnerships, with city approval needed to pursue the funding.
