Tinubu commissions Bwari water network, pledges clean water

Tinubu's administration inaugurated the Bwari Water Supply Network in the Federal Capital Territory as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, signaling a commitment to extending potable water to satellite towns. The project, represented by the First Lady, connects Bwari and surrounding communities to the Lower Usuma Dam treated water source, reducing dependence on untreated boreholes. Tinubu framed the Renewed Hope Agenda as a contract and pledged to decentralise development to end Abuja’s “two cities” narrative, stressing that clean water is a fundamental right. He noted this initiative sits among broader efforts like the Karu Water Supply Network and Lower Usuma Dam Phase II rehabilitation, with an instruction to mobilise the best resources to deliver results. The president promised that clean water will be extended to all six FCT area councils—Kuje, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Abaji, and others—by the end of his tenure, a goal reinforced by praise from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. These developments underscore a sustained push to deliver tangible, nationwide infrastructure improvements under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
