Tommy Robinson Convicted of Harassing Two Journalists
Tommy Robinson was convicted by a 10–2 jury majority at Southwark Crown Court of two counts of harassment causing fear of violence against Daily Mail journalists Andrew Young and Jacob Dirnhuber. The case followed the newspaper’s coverage of Robinson’s social media activity from Cyprus during unrest in England in August 2024; prosecutors said he retaliated by posting about the journalists, hiring investigators to find their home addresses, and sharing images of Dirnhuber’s home and Young’s family. Young received a close-protection officer, and both journalists felt they needed to leave their homes or increase security; Robinson also told Young, “I’m coming to get you.” Robinson denied the charges and argued the newspaper’s story put his family at risk, but jurors rejected that defense. He was granted bail pending sentencing on December 16 and faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
