Torrent Pharma Profit Falls 10%, Revenue Rises 51%
Torrent Pharmaceuticals’ second-quarter FY27 revenue rose about 51% to ₹4,979 crore, largely reflecting the addition of JB Chemicals and growth in its core businesses, while net profit fell 9.6% to ₹534 crore. Operating EBITDA increased 53.8% and its margin edged up to 33.5%, but higher expenses—including increased research and development, finance costs and depreciation—pressured the bottom line. The company’s base India business grew 20%, supported by demand for chronic-therapy medicines, including semaglutide, while revenue also advanced in the U.S. and Brazil. Germany revenue declined amid supply disruptions and lost tenders, and integration of JB’s businesses temporarily affected performance. Torrent says it is working to capture cost savings and cross-selling opportunities from the integration, while analysts remain constructive on domestic growth but cite integration challenges and Germany’s weakness as risks.
