Transfers Deliver Mixed Results Across College Football
Midseason reviews of college football transfers show sharply mixed results: some former players have become key contributors, while others have seen little or no playing time. Alabama receiver Isaiah Horton has emerged as Texas A&M’s leading receiver, and former Alabama player Hale is having a career year at SMU; by contrast, several other Alabama transfers remain in backup roles or have limited production. Former Wyoming receiver Chris Durr has broken out at Maryland with 52 catches for 580 yards and four touchdowns, even as the Terrapins struggle and head coach Mike Locksley has been fired. Updates on former Houston and Syracuse players likewise range from productive seasons at new schools to sparse appearances, while Tennessee’s large transfer class was unable to prevent a loss to South Carolina.
