Transit Agencies in Three Cities Offer Free Rides to Polls
Public transit agencies in Birmingham, Bangor and Rochester are offering free rides to help people reach the polls on Election Day. MAX Transit’s offer covers fixed-route buses, Birmingham Xpress and paratransit, with two free on-demand rides available through its app; Bangor’s Community Connector is making all routes and ADA paratransit free. Rochester Public Transit will waive fares for riders traveling to vote, with service available from an hour before polls open until an hour after they close. Riders should check their polling location and transit schedules, and Rochester riders must tell the driver they are traveling to vote.
