Guyana-Bound Flight Returns to Miami After Alleged Threat
American Airlines Flight 339 from Miami to Georgetown, Guyana, returned to Miami shortly after takeoff Thursday evening after a passenger allegedly rushed toward flight attendants and made a threatening remark. The plane landed safely, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office determined the encounter was a verbal dispute, with no physical assault. The passenger left without incident and was rebooked. The flight later continued to Guyana on a different aircraft, arriving several hours behind schedule. The FAA said it would investigate the incident.
