Trenton Police Seize 70 Slot Machines, $100,000
An 11-month investigation into an alleged illegal gambling network in Trenton, New Jersey, ended with police executing search warrants at more than 30 businesses and seizing over 70 slot machines and more than $100,000 in cash. Authorities arrested 33-year-old Philadelphia resident Harry B. Almonte, whom investigators allege operated the network and serviced the machines. He faces New Jersey charges including promoting gambling, possessing gambling devices, maintaining a gambling operation and money laundering; business owners were also issued summonses for alleged illegal gambling. Philadelphia police said they found three semi-automatic handguns and more than half a pound of marijuana at Almonte’s home, and he faces related weapons and drug charges in Pennsylvania.
