Poll shows Trump approval rating falls to record low of 32%

A Reuters/Ipsos poll completed September 20, 2026, found Donald Trump's approval at 32%, the lowest of his career and down from 35% a week earlier. Republican approval fell from 82% to 73%. Only 17% approved his cost-of-living handling; Republicans disapproved 51% to 44% approve. Thirty-four percent approved Iran strikes, 36% his immigration approach, and 35% his crime approach; 82% expected the Iran conflict to last an extended period. Democrats led midterm preference 43% to 35%. The online sample was 1,277 U.S. adults, margin of error 3 points. Trump posted: "Russia has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine. A large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission. This ridiculous and never ending War with Ukraine must be ended." Paul Campos cited Axios that higher costs will "reach store shelves in the coming months, starting with bread, meat, dairy, and eggs," and noted a separate American Research Group poll at 29%. Hwang Yoonju reported Muhammad bin Salman phoned twice seeking U.S. Houthi airstrikes; after Brad Cooper sent plans to Pete Hegseth, Trump postponed the operation on September 20. Outlets do not dispute the Reuters/Ipsos numbers.
