White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia said on Oct. 13, 2026, that the administration has asked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign. In her first briefing after being named press secretary on Oct. 9, Zacharia said Guilfoyle "has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well." A day earlier, President Trump told reporters: "Well, we're looking at it. Yeah, we're not happy." Wall Street Journal reports from late September alleged a March dinner remark to Greek officials that "We can do that to any country we want," promotion of Aktor Group interests, a Signal request to Eric Deters for $100,000 six days before her July 9, 2025 confirmation hearing that "won't show up anywhere," and private-jet travel with Alexandros Exarchou and Nikolas Tsakos. Deters called it "absolutely a quid pro quo" and labeled her "a grifter." She allegedly told a businessman: "You know, I can deliver the world to you... I'm going to make you a lot of f-ing money." CONTESTED: Lawyers David Schwartz and Jesse Binnall denied wrongdoing, disputed the messages' authenticity, linked any money to unpaid speaking fees, and asserted compliance with State Department rules. The State Department inspector general is examining the claims.

Trump's team keeps shuffling people out, but I hope the next pick brings more steady experience to the role.
Guilfoyle never seemed right for the ambassador job anyway, so this resignation makes sense for the administration.
