Trump Nominates Greenwood as Caribbean Ambassador

President Donald Trump has nominated Kimberly Greenwood, the wife of country singer Lee Greenwood, to be the U.S. ambassador to Barbados and the top U.S. envoy to seven other Eastern Caribbean nations, pending Senate confirmation. A former Miss Tennessee USA, Greenwood spent 18 years working with the Miss Universe Organization when it was owned by Trump and currently oversees pageant-related businesses. She thanked Trump for the nomination and pledged to build relationships with the countries she would serve. Her husband’s patriotic song “God Bless the USA” has been used prominently at Trump events, and the two men have also partnered commercially. The nomination reflects the longstanding practice of presidents from both parties appointing prominent supporters, donors, and political allies to ambassadorships.
