Trump to Hold Greenville Rally as Early Voting Rises 36 Percent
President Donald Trump will deliver remarks at a Pitt-Greenville Airport rally on Tuesday, October 20. Doors open at 3 p.m., the rally is set for 5:30 p.m., and remarks begin at 7 p.m. at 400 Airport Road. It is his second North Carolina visit within a month after a September event in Gastonia. More than 525,000 early ballots had been cast by October 18, about 36 percent more than at the same point in 2022. ABC11 reported 525,970 through Sunday and a gain of more than 37 percent. Dr. Michael Bitzer said these numbers are really set to break some records. The stop backs Republicans in the open Senate race between Michael Whatley and Roy Cooper, after Sen. Thom Tillis announced retirement, and in House Districts 1 and 11, which Cook Political Report lists as toss-ups. District 1 is a Don Davis-Laurie Buckhout rematch after lines were redrawn; District 11 pits Jennifer Balkcom against Jamie Ager for a seat Chuck Edwards is leaving. NBC says Whatley is trailing Cooper in recent polls. NRCC spokesman Reilly Richardson credited Trump and House Republicans with tax cuts, border security, farmer support, and hurricane relief and said Buckhout and Balkcom wins would help continue those victories.
