Trump plans midterm closing pitch at Reflecting Pool

President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a closing midterm-election message at Washington’s Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Monday, the day before voters decide control of Congress. A White House official said he will highlight his administration’s and congressional Republicans’ accomplishments and discuss efforts to restore the capital; Trump has said he wants the event to show the renovated pool’s appearance. The choice shifts his final-day campaign focus from rallies in key states to a landmark renovation that has drawn controversy over troubled repairs and alleged vandalism. A vandalism case Trump criticized was later dismissed after prosecutors acknowledged that faulty installation caused the damage.
