TSA Limits Gateside Access to 13 Airports
The Transportation Security Administration reversed the expansion of Gateside by TSA PreCheck in mid-October 2026, returning the program to the 13 airports where it launched as a pilot in September. The application portal had listed roughly 300 U.S. airports in early October before narrowing back to that original set. Gateside lets enrolled PreCheck members apply online one to three days ahead for a pass valid one calendar day to clear security without a ticket, meet or see off travelers at the gate, or use post-checkpoint shops and restaurants. Approved visitors present ID at PreCheck lanes and may not use Touchless ID lanes. Denver International Airport confirmed the program had reverted to the original airports. A Norfolk Airport Authority representative was told by TSA that the program was on hold indefinitely except at the 13 pilot sites. TSA has not publicly explained why it reversed the expansion or when wider rollout might resume. Its Gateside website still states the program will roll out to more airports in the coming months. Access remains limited to the 13 original pilot airports.
