Tulane Beats Memphis 31-17, Reviving Season
Iowa State’s 3-3 start has impressed Arizona coach Brent Brennan given the Cyclones’ extensive roster and staff turnover, though Arizona enters their matchup with a defense that has recorded 19 sacks in six games and is on pace for its most prolific sack season since 1998. Tulane ended a difficult stretch with a 31-17 win over Memphis, powered by freshman quarterback Trace Johnson’s first start and a defense that forced six turnovers; the performance renewed questions about why coach Will Hall’s team has struggled to find consistency. Arizona State also honored former kicker Thomas Weber, whose path from a Michigan State departure to a Sun Devil walk-on led to the 2007 Lou Groza Award and induction into the Sun Devil Athletics Hall of Fame.
