Tumbler Ridge Shooting Alleged Co-Conspirator Pleads Not Guilty

James Cody Bryant pleaded not guilty in a Seattle federal court to conspiracy to murder people in a foreign country in connection with the February 2026 Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, school shooting. Prosecutors allege Bryant communicated with shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar, offered advice about targets and weapons, helped prepare and test a planned livestream, and provided money for an item used in an improvised explosive device. The allegations have not been proven; Bryant remains in custody after being denied bail. His trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 21, 2026, and the charge carries a potential life sentence.
