Turning Point Tour Draws Protests, Iowa Arrest
Turning Point USA’s “America: Love It or Leave It” college tour stopped at the University of Iowa and the University of Nevada, Reno, featuring conservative speakers including Donald Trump Jr. and Ben Shapiro. At Iowa, the event included shouting and profanity during a discussion about Israel, police escorted a chanting attendee out, and a man was arrested; authorities had not yet released details about the arrest or possible charges. Speakers also discussed the legacy of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, while students expressed both support for hearing views like their own and support for the group’s right to speak despite disagreeing with its message. At UNR, the tour included a question-and-answer session and a ticketed event; participation at the Q&A was sparse, and comedians made jokes that drew criticism, including an antisemitic remark about Jews controlling the weather.
