Turnstile Benefit Draws 60,000, Raises $209,000
Turnstile performed a free benefit concert at the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 24, drawing a crowd that reached the site’s capacity and leaving additional fans outside the barriers. The show was organized with Human Concern International to support humanitarian relief in Gaza, Sudan and Lebanon; organizers said donations had topped $209,000 toward a $250,000 goal. One report estimated that about 60,000 people attended. Frontman Brendan Yates celebrated music’s connection to the world around it and urged the crowd to call for freedom for Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon.
